For Sale is a 1988 Toyota Landcruiser BJ73.
245,000 KM (152,000 Miles) on odometer. JDM Market Medium Wheelbase (MWB) model. Lived on Vancouver island prior to import into the USA. Legally federalized. British Columbia VIN tag. Swapped 3.4L Direct Injected Turbo Diesel (Toyota 13-BT engine).
5 speed manual, recently rebuilt 2 speed transfer case, with manual locking hubs. 4.11 gears. Open diffs. Full float axles. Removable FRP top. Will hold 70 mph. New turbo (Garrett GT20). Swapped oil lines to AN fittings. Banks Diesel EGT/Boost Gauge. Mechanical injection pump in good order and new rebuilt injectors. Tuned for 14 PSI of boost. New OEM water pump and 82℃ temp thermostat for desert driving. Radiator in good condition- fan clutch might need replacement. Engine/transmission run great but could use an overhaul.
Interior is clean and nice. Sony touchscreen stereo with Apple/Android car play. 24V electrical system- installed two 24 12 voltage converters for both the constant (2A) and switched power (10A) to stereo. Speakers aren’t great. Replaced sun visors with new OEM. Sits 4 but only three seatbelts are present. Front/Rear heaters work great. Factory A/C present but not working- compressor and condenser possibly need to be replaced. Swapped to R134a. All gauges function properly. New factory tach, oil pressure receiver, and circuit board for the instrument cluster.
ARB bull bar with Odd Iron Off Road heavy duty recovery points on the front. Touched up the frame ends with POR 15 when bumper was installed. Rear bumper is a custom job from previous owner. Has hitch receiver. Baja Designs lights on the front. Newer bulbs in the Hella H4 headlight housings. Baja Designs back up light on the rear bumper.
Truck sits on a 2.5” shackle lift of unknown origin and leaf springs all around. Shocks/bushings could use replacement, but rides comfortably. Rancho shocks in rear, fronts unknown. 33” x 10.5” BFG K02’s and 15” American Racing wheels. Spare is a BFG mud terrain with the factory steel wheel (42601-60362). Tires still have about 50-60% life. Front Right has a slow leak.
Buyer assumes responsibility to make sure they can register truck in their area. There is no emissions equipment or catalytic converter on this vehicle. There is a new muffler and 2.5” exhaust that exits on the side.
Rust is unfortunately common for these trucks- a previous owner had the entire body and frame except for the top and windshield frame raptor-lined. Rust is present in all the fenders, rocker panels, and lower parts of the doors, as well as in the windshield frame.
Included are new metal body panels to replace front/rear fenders and rockers, as well as an FRP replacement windshield frame.
Also included in the sale: -Heavy duty rock sliders and front fender guards that I sourced off a longer wheelbase model (Troop Carrier). They will need some modification to fit. -Factory turbo setup (Toyota CT26) including water & oil hard lines and downpipe. -“Front Porch” stock front bumper w/ stock skid plates. -Lots of other spare parts. -Hard copy of the Toyota chassis factory service manual and .pdfs of the engine, transmission, and transfer case factory manuals.
